Biblical Forgiveness #1

What is forgiveness?   What does the Bible say about forgiveness? Does forgiveness require repentance? When Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, sin engulfed between man and God. Ever since, the human race acquired a sinful nature. A detestable nature before God. God detests sin. But in his love for his created beings, God planned for a way to restore man back to him. Thus, he sent his only begotten son, Jesus, to redeem man back to God. The main aim of Jesus coming to die for man’s sin was to restore the good relationship between God and man, before the fall. Forgiveness can be defined as the letting go of sin. It involves letting go of shame and guilt that can wreck one’s life if carried on in life. It is a release from sinful nature. In John 14:6 (NIV), Jesus affirms that, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” For any human to be forgiven off their sins, fill the gulf that refrains a good relationship with God the Father, he (man) has to go through

In the Storm with Jesus

In this life, challenges, adversaries, trials and temptations are bound to happen. A normal life has its own share of hurricanes and thunderstorms, and enough bouts of calm situations to sooth the heart. The presence of storms in life does not denote Jesus in absentia. Mark 4:37 "But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water" When the fierce storm came, their fishing boat was tossed and swapped by the waters. They shook with fear,  but JESUS was still on board. The scriptures does not tell whether they woke Jesus immediately. Or they tried to ride on through the storm. But at the right time, which was beyond the human strength, Jesus woke up and calmed the fierce storm.   Just because Jesus is on board, it does not mean we will not face the storms of life.    Sometimes when we are faced with fierce storms, we try to bail ourselves out. Many are the times we tend to ride on using all means of human effort. In bet

As aunt Lucy's car reared into the compound in a snail-like manner, everyone turned gazing their red-eyes on the car's occupants.  Diana has been picked from school by aunt Lucy. They didn't talk much. Aunt was adamant to disclose her mission. Though aunt was behaving strangely, Diana failed to read her thoughts. Throughout their 2-hour drive, aunt has been on phone. Answering one call after another. She has been conversing in her native language. And Diana being a born-town was not able to capture a single word. Diana tried to read aunt's facial expressions. But aunt kept her eyes purposely glued on the road. This is not the first time aunt Lucy is picking Diana from school half way the school term. And she behaved the same. Eyes glued to the glissy road, ears sticking on the earphones while conversing in the native language.  The last time she picked her, they were celeb

I can't say I love cats. I would lie. Last week a neighbor's cat decided to invade my house. Out of no where. She managed to give birth to three beautiful kittens in one of the rooms in my house. Without my consent.  I was alerted of their presence by their whining. Cries of hunger. Cries of desperation. My little daughters were amazed. They were so much elated shouting shouts of joy. My daughters shouted in unison claiming they have won the battle between me and them. The battle of owning cats as pets.Their dad was not left behind he was too was euphoric by the presence of the kittens in the house. And of-course his daughters happiness was infectious. At least on him. I was helpless, though i threatened to throw them out. I felt mercy on the helpless kittens. I could not find the guts to touch them with bare hands leave alone to throw them out. But i was not amused nor happy with their presence in my house. When the mother arrived amidst the confusion, she was not happy.
